Carla Sankey (Artistic Director) is a dancer, choreographer and director native to San Antonio. She trained as a competitive dancer in her youth all over the country and danced professionally for over a decade before moving into teaching to aspiring young artists. Carla has choreographed for local theaters, staged theatrical productions and choreographed for concerts, musicals and competitions for multiple public and private theatre arts programs in and around the city.
She has been a choreographer, director and production supervisor for Six Flags Theme Parks since 2005. She created the first production of The SIX in 2017 from the ground up, and joined CUCF as the artistic director in 2018, creating each subsequent performance. After managing a performing arts academy, multiple dance studios, and being a director/choreographer of two competitive youth dance companies, she started her own competitive youth dance company, Thrive Dance Collective in 2020. Carla remains devoted to the performing arts in San Antonio and has a passion for stage. Most importantly, she is the proud wife of a talented musician and mother of wonderful aspiring young performer! |
